Mariann Fjeld Olsen - Soprano
Mariann Fjeld Olsen graduated from the University College of Opera in Stockholm in December 2004 and is currently studying with Professor Barbro Marklund in Oslo. She has performed leading roles at opera-houses in Sweden and Norway, including Adele Die Fledermaus at Norwegian National Opera, Juliette Roméo et Juliette at the Folk Opera in Stockholm, the title role in Ivar Hallström’s The Bride of the Mountain King at Ulriksdal’s Royal Theatre, Stockholm, Marguerite Faust at Malmö Opera and Frasquita Carmen at the Royal Opera in Stockholm.
Mariann won first prize in the national finals of the Queen Sonja National Music Competition and the Malmö Vocal Competition, both in 2007. She was awarded a place from Concerts Norway's prestigious two-year launching programme INTRO Classical (2009- 2010) to perform at home and abroad. Mariann has appeared as soloist with leading orchestras in Sweden and Norway, such as the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra and Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. She has performed in recital in Sweden and Norway, singing German Lieder, Grieg, Swedish songs and contemporary music, and a recital tour of the USA followed her Jenny Lind Scholarship award in 2004. In August, Mariann became a soloist at the Norwegian National Opera. In September she will be performing the part of the First Wood-sprite in Dvorak’s Rusalka, and future plans there include Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro.
